Introduction:
We are continuously filled with gratitude over God's mercy and grace here at Université Chrétienne du Nord d’Haiti (UCNH). Founded in 1994 on the shoulders of the Baptist Theological Seminary started in 1947, UCNH has been educating students in 6 majors at the bachelors and masters levels for 26 years now. Graduates of our university have gone on to be businessmen and women, pastors, teachers, worship leaders, and more as they seek to make a difference for Christ in Haiti and in the world.
As you can imagine, the coronavirus pandemic, which came on the heels of political turmoil, the current economic crisis in Haiti is very significant. Students and their families have been unable to pay the low costs for their education, and even the university reserve has been depleted in order to pay faculty and staff.
Consequently, we are planning a fundraising campaign in three phases: First we will be raising $55,000 in the next few months to cover the 2019-2020 shortfall. Next, we will raise $100,000 for the 2020-2021 semesters so that students can get back on track for their intended graduation dates, significantly upgrade our security system, replenish our emergency and reserve fund.

In order to fight insecurity that is rampant in Haiti, we need to secure our campus by significantly upgrading our security system through the installation of live cameras, appropriate lighting throughout the campus, the erection of walls and the hiring of security professionals 24/7.

What?
North Haiti Christian University (Université Chrétienne du Nord d'Haïti (UCNH) is a non-profit private higher-education institution. It was founded as Baptist Theological Seminary of Haiti and became a university in 1994. The university is officially recognized by Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training of Haiti. We are offering scholarships and are uniquely placed to give aid to those in the country outside the scope of a tertiary education because of their lack of proximity to the cities which house contemporary universities. The university offers courses in the fields of Agriculture, Business Administration, Education, Fine Arts, nursing, and theology with bachelors’ degrees and masters’ degrees.
Where?
The university is located in Haut-Limbé in the northern part of Haiti, 15 miles south of Cap Haitien.
Who?
The university serves the entire country with an enrollment range of 1200-1500 per year. Because of lack of funding, most of the students are supported by a friend or family.
The need?
Since the COVID-19, we are facing many challenges:
Students are dropping – The lack of food that we are facing in Haiti is causing many parents to drop our school. The situation has created significant stress and uncertainty for everyone.
Insecurity in Haiti, with the high crime, kidnapping, and rapes everywhere. UCNH is not exempt, but we can stand together to face this issue. We need to secure our campus by having a live camera, and by paying a company to watch our campus 24/7.
Debt to our staff and faculty – Many employees and staff stop working because we are unable to give them their stipend.
Lack of food; we used to present a meal a day to our student with reduced price, but we are unable to keep our promise. Students have deserted because of food insecurity.
